One of the primary populations I work with is the LGBTQ+ community. Gender and sexuality topics, quite frankly, have a long past when it comes to society and even in the counseling field. First, sexuality and gender identity have come extremely far in the counseling field and in society. However, this does not mean that there is not work to be done. Instead of labeling or putting someone in a box by describing different emotions when it comes to sexuality and gender topics, I want to express to anyone reading this that counseling is a safe place for you. In therapy, all and anyone are welcome. You are not alone during this time. All the thoughts, emotions and events going through your head may be incredibly overwhelming and confusing, but you do not have to go through this alone. You are valid. As being apart of the LGBTQ+ community myself, I understand on a person, professional and ethical level the importance of having a space to feel safe, open and accepted in. I am also able to provide letters for Hormone Replacement Therapy and Gender Affirming Surgery.
